Do you think your pet was an interesting case? Please nominate your pet by emailing us at hopidocs@hopianimalhospital.com! Interesting Case #2 Poor Tusker! There he was, minding his own business on a walk with his mom down by the canal. Suddenly, the delicious scent of fish was in the air, too much for him to resist. He found the tasty morsel, but came away with a little something more than he bargained for!
![]() Tusker's mom brought him right over to Hopi Animal Hospital. We were able to sedate Tusker and take a good look in his mouth. The fish hook was deeply imbedded in his lower lip, and because fish hooks are barbed, we were unable to back the hook out the way it went in. We used a pair of wire cutters to break the lure in half and then as gently as we could, pushed the remaining peice of the hook forward and out his lip. A shot of pain medication and some antibiotics and Tusker was back to normal. And hopefully, with a little less interest in fish! |
